Electric ice. As millions of Canadians know all-too-well, ice can wreak havoc on above-ground electricity grids. However, Dr. Masoud Farzaneh is out to short-circuit ice’s black-out potential. The Université du Québec à Chicoutimi researcher leads the world’s only laboratory in its kind with specialized equipment for the study of the impact of snow and ice on high-voltage power equipment. His research is at the heart of improving the reliability of electrical networks in northern climates.
$44,500 a year, for five years.
